Seniors Helping Seniors® Scottsdale Featured on 12News Arizona Midday

Andy Lask, owner of Seniors Helping Seniors® Scottsdale, appeared on Arizona Midday, the lifestyle show on 12News, the Valley's NBC station, to talk about Employ Older Workers Week and why Caregivers who are seniors themselves bring something special to in-home care. The full segment is on 12news.com.

What was the segment about?

Employ Older Workers Week recognizes the role older adults keep playing in the workforce, and caregiving may be the clearest example anywhere. On Arizona Midday, Andy explained the Seniors Helping Seniors® peer-to-peer approach: many of our Caregivers are seniors themselves, which lets them relate naturally to clients and build genuine relationships rather than transactional ones.

That shared life experience shows up in the home as trust, easy conversation, and a level of comfort families tell us they did not expect from "hiring help."

Why does employing older workers matter in caregiving?

Because the qualities that make a great Caregiver are the ones a longer life builds:

  • Communication that comes from decades of real conversations
  • Emotional steadiness and patience
  • Reliability, the show-up-when-you-said-you-would kind
  • A natural ability to connect with someone their own age

The model works in both directions. Clients get a Caregiver who genuinely understands them, and older adults who want purposeful work get a way to stay active, engaged, and needed. If that second part sounds like you, our team is always glad to meet caring seniors: see the Become a Caregiver page.
